3/29/17- Brian has gone to a foster to adopt home. We are crossing our paws.
Howdy! I'm Brian, a handsome, muscular, one-year old guy who loves to run and play. Like the name of my breed, I have a beautiful golden coat with blonde highlights, and I'm an excellent retriever! Not to brag, but I'm smart, and love to learn. Right out of the gate, I showed my foster mom I could do high-fives with alternating paws! Cool, huh? She is working with me on obedience training, and I'm learning quickly. We are thinking about starting agility or rally, too, for new things to master! My foster mom says I'm a great dog. Although I'm young and like to play, I'm calm in the house, easy to be around. I love attention, and can be very affectionate with my family; I prefer my family to strangers. I like when my family pets me and cuddles me, and wag my tail to show it! When mom and I go for a walk, she likes to talk to the neighbors, so I lay down in the grass and wait patiently. If the neighbor has a dog, I'll try to play with him. Sometimes strangers want to pat my head, and I'm just not crazy about that. I walk well on a leash, but I'm working on not pulling when I see other dogs, or things that look like prey (squirrels, anyone?). I agree, I need a strong owner who can handle me and continue to work with me on obedience in this area. I'm an excellent watch dog. I'm alert, and have an impressive deep, loud, ferocious bark....and beautiful teeth! I could do commercials! I like routine, and have adapted well to my foster mom's. While she is out, I show her I am housebroken, and do well left alone during the day. I also show her I'm not destructive in the house, and leave her shoes and furniture alone. My vice? Paper products! They are so fun to shred! My other love? Food! I have a very healthy appetite, and it’s pure bliss when it’s time to eat. But I'm a good boy, I don't jump on countertops, and I leave my mom’s food alone. I can't say why, but I have a hang up about being groomed. Quirky. I'm not crazy about the muzzle mom puts on me when she makes sure I look good, but I do look good! What kind of forever home am I hoping for? One in which I'm the only pet, and without children. Why? Because I can get confused about other animals and small beings, and think they want my food. And I've already said how much I love my food! Maybe it has something to do with how I spent the first year of my life, I don't know. I do know a quiet, calm household with an owner committed to continuing my training would be perfect, and my paws are crossed that you are that family. _________________________________________ GRRSWF will consider applicants outside of our normal area for Brian, but applicants must live in the state of Florida and be willing to travel to meet him.
