The "jury is still out" as to what Duke is mixed with, but with everyone at the vet giving their input, it has been determined that there is a little something else in there along with Golden. We just don't know what that little something else is exactly. Duke's legs are a little bit shorter than they should be and his body is a little bit longer than it should be. His ears are long, but I have seen many Goldens with those long ears. Once he gets the proper nutrition, too, I think his coat will come back and he'll be beautiful. A long, full coat will enhance his Golden look. His personality is true Golden in every way! He's super sweet....super duper sweet. And in the 20 minutes it took to go from the shelter to the vet, he had already bonded with me. He even looked back at me when the kennel tech was walking him to the back where he will board for the night....as if to say "why aren't you coming with me?" Everyone at the vet has already fallen for Duke in a big way. When one of the vets first saw him, her exact words were "Oh my gosh, dogs don't get any more adorable than that!" She just flipped over him and so did all of the vet techs and kennel staff as well as the office manager and front desk team.He attracts attention because of his looks as well as his personality. For those applicants who are looking for a Golden on the smaller side, he'll be perfect! He loaded right up--in fact, I didn't have to tell him anything--he just jumped right in the car when I opened the door. He rides well and put his head on my arm while I was driving. He walks well on leash, too. He's very alert and curious, not the least bit demonstrative. He listens and seems to hang on your every word.....a true velcro boy.
