09/19/12 Update:
Dozer continues to makes leaps and bounds in his overall health. He came through his first heartworm treatment in September with flying colors, and got a passing grade from the vet on some recent and much needed weight gain. He will be at his normal weight very soon for his size, and his coat is shiny and soft. Dozer seems to be happy and content in any enviornment as he is excited to meet strangers, whether they be adults or children. He is such a loving and loyal Golden and always greets you at the door with a wildy wagging tail. Wherever you are he wants to be next to you and is filled with excited curiousity. He plays with other dogs so well, and is not aggressive in any way whether it be with sharing toys or with food. He loves to retrieve rubber balls and those strong chew toys will keep him happily busy for hours. Any family would be well suited for Dozer as a loving companion.
Foster update 8-27-12
We took Dozer to his first adoption event at Bass Pro Shops recently. Dozer was a hit with everyone especially children as he was very gentle with them and stood happily in place while being constantly petted. They all loved his sweet nature and soulful eyes. He loved all the attention and was well behaved around all the other Goldens. He constantly wagged his tail with much excitement as many strangers came up to pet him at the event. It was a great success, and we now know Dozer is well socialized and can thrive in any environment.
Dozer is making some progress with gaining some weight and his dark reddish coat is shining nicely. He loves when you sit on the floor with him to play or so he can cuddle up in your lap. He is a loving, loyal, and sweet Golden.
Foster Update 8-15-12: Dozer is not only a sweet and gentle Golden, he is also very resilient. Although he was neglected by his previous owner his loving personality and mellow demeanor are already thriving in our foster home. His appetite is healthy once again, and he is gaining some needed weight. We know that he really enjoys his bath time and just like any other Golden, enjoys all and any attention as well as closeness to those around him. He is very easygoing with our two female Goldens, and is playing tug-rope with them daily. He seems well-trained, understands basic commands, house broke, and walks nicely on a leash. Dozer would fit perfectly into any adoptive family. Stay tuned for more updates! Dozer was surrendered to a shelter by his owner. He is seven years old and a happy, friendly, energetic boy. Unfortunately he is heartworm positive, but he will be treated for that. Otherwise he seems in good health, although a bit under-weight. He is currently in one of our great foster homes and has been given the royal spa treatment. He is a very handsome gent who will make some lucky family a wonderful addition.
