Cammie is a lovely Golden Retriever/ Chow mix who was rescued at her last hour from NACC in Titusville. Volunteers from all over the state of Florida banded together to save Cammie who was going to be put to sleep because of her Heartworm Positive status. Staff at the shelter held on as long as they could, a month, before her time ran out to make room for the hundreds of dogs coming in every week. They held out for hope that a rescue would come through because of Cammie's sweet nature and knew that she would be a wonderful companion for a special person or family if the opportunity could be found.

The Naples Humane Society was the only and last resort to save Cammie's life and is currently providing a safe haven as well as treatment for her heartworms. Cammie is housebroken, gets along with other dogs and is incredibly sweet. She was badly matted from being neglected so the shelter staff in Titusville had to shave off most of her beautiful, plush fur. They worked some magic and gave her a "lion cut", with a sculpted mane all the way down to the poof on the end of her tail, she looks gorgeous and will be even prettier when it all grows back as can be seen in her picture!

While Cammie is safe at the Naples Humane Society, we are hoping for some special attention so she will be adopted sooner than later. Cammie has been waiting a very long time for a forever home. Cammie was originally guessed to be 4-7 years old but upon full examination, her veterinarian determined her to be 9 years old! She certainly runs around and has a healthy trim waist, clear eyes, which deceive her age but as we understand it, the teeth don't lie!

Please open your heart to an older dog with many years left to live and love, and show her competition of puppies and younger, maybe cuter, maybe smaller, maybe faster dogs, all sharing her dormitory at the shelter, that Cammie, is a shining star too! Her adoption fee is $45 which covers everything, including microchip and all vaccinations.
