Many golden retrievers who come into our rescue have heart-breaking stories. Daisy Mae II is one of those dogs. This sweet girl "hand-picked" her owner when she was just a few weeks old by clambering over her much-larger littermates to reach him. He was so taken with her that he marked her paw with a Sharpie. When he went to pick her up a few weeks later, the breeder mistakenly handed him the wrong puppy until he pointed out the indelible mark on Daisy's toe. For 12 happy years, Daisy and her dad were inseparable. Sadly, upon hitting hard times, he turned her over to us when he was forced to move to a place that does not allow dogs.

Daisy is a spry and playful 12-year-old. Lean and trim, she gets around with the ease of a much-younger dog. She adores other animals and romped happily with a basset hound while at the vet's office. She is good with cats and children, having lived with both. Daisy is a gentle, sweet girl will fit easily into any household. She adores swimming, riding in the car, going to the dog park and meeting new people. She is especially fond of men and would be the perfect companion for an older gentleman.
