Ginger is a sweet little 4 year-old girl who loves everyone, especially children. Her former owner was sadly unable to keep her due to family circumstances. As you can see from the story below, Ginger has already had two homes and will be entering a third one soon (one of our foster homes). Her next move must be to a family that is committed to giving Ginger a loving home for the rest of her life - this sweet girl doesn't need any more upheavals in her life.

We are grateful to Ginger's most recent owner for loving her enough to contact us and for allowing us to find a wonderful, carefully approved home for her.

Ginger's recent owner tells us, "I have only had her for about 6 months.  Apparently her original owner traveled a lot and kenneled her a lot, so eventually she ended up giving Ginger to a coworker of mine.  That coworker said she was too much to take care of, and when I found out about her I jumped at the chance to have her.  I’ve raised two Labrador Retrievers and just love the breed and temperament.

I don’t know what my co-worker was talking about, with her being too much.  She is a wonderful dog.  She does get excited when around new people and will get up on her back legs (not really jump) but she listens very well and will stop if you tell her to.  She’s wonderful with kids and other animals; I take her to the dog park several times a week to socialize.  My 2 year-old son climbs all over her and I never worry for a second."

Ginger will shortly be moved to one of our wonderful Foster Homes for evaluation and lots of love. All of our dogs stay in their Foster Homes for a minimum two week evaluation period, then remain there until their Forever Home finds them.

All GRRSWF dogs have undergone an full examination by a veterinarian and any health concerns have been addressed. All dogs are current on vaccines, have been tested for heartworm and intestinal parasites, and are provided with monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives for the duration of their time with us.

If you are interested in learning more about this dog, please contact us at applications@grrswf.org, or you can read about our adoption process in detail and download an application from our website at http://grrswf.org/index-2.html .

PLEASE NOTE: We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Tampa, and sometimes slightly beyond if needed or possible. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs but live outside our usual area of operations, please us know as soon as possible; this will allow us to ascertain whether we have volunteers in your area who would be able to assist in processing your application, and may save you from completing an application that we might be unable to process. Unfortunately, much as we would like to,
