This is a very sweet Golden Mix about 5 years old. She was picked up as a stray on the East Coast. She's a bit smaller than your average female (44#). She's very calm and well behaved. Good with other dogs and loves kids who'll love her. Up to date on shots, housebroken, micro-chipped and crate trained.  A wonderful addition to any home, she displays that great Golden personality. She was shaved from the waist back because of flea dermititis problems but the fur is growing back nicely now that she's getting proper care and love.

Gina has been around little dogs as small as a Japanese Chin, Maltese, and a Min Pin and doesn't seem fazed. Carol and Gina are good with kids. If you are interested in her and have cats then we would be happy to test her with the clinic cat at one of our network vets’ practice.

Our Area Coordinator met Gina when she arrived at her Foster Home and told us the following: "Gina is a sweet, mellow girl. She spent most of the time offering her belly for a rub. She warms up to people very quickly. She was good with foster brother Frankie the Lab. Not super interested but seemed completely fine with her. When Frankie chased a stick, Gina followed.  It seems her major concern is, “who is going to sit and pet me?” So she should make someone a great pet too and she is only 45 lbs, great for someone who doesn’t want a very big dog."

This dog's former owners failed to provide a heartworm preventative so she was heartworm postive and has recently completed the three month treatement for the disease.

If you are interested in adopting a dog that has been treated for heartworm disease, but worried about the long term effects on its health, please know that these dogs can live normal healthy lives following treatment. We suggest that you consult your own vet to confirm this. Then don't be afraid to lose your heart to one of these dogs. You can learn more about this horrible disease from The American Heartworm Society at http://www.heartwormsociety.org/

This dog is currently in one of our wonderful Foster Homes for evaluation and lots of love. All of our dogs stay in their Foster Homes for a minimum two week evaluation period, then remain there until their Forever Home finds them.

All GRRSWF dogs have undergone an full examination by a veterinarian and any health concerns have been addressed. All dogs are current on vaccines, have been tested for heartworm and intestinal parasites, and are provided with monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives for the duration of their time with us.

If you are interested in learning more about this dog, please contact us at applications@grrswf.org, or you can read about our adoption process in detail and download an application from our website at http://grrswf.org/index-2.html .

PLEASE NOTE: We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Tampa, and sometimes slightly beyond if needed&
