Ringo is a 116 lb male golden retriever that was surrendered to a local shelter by his former owner. He is about 6 or 7 years old and neutered. Max is heartworm positive and will need to be treated for this before he is ready to go to his forever home.
He is a very sweet, gentle giant who charms everyone he meets. He loves to give you his paw and just waits to be loved on. We are waiting for some more current photos of him and will post them as soon as possible.
If you are interested in adopting a dog that has been treated for heartworm disease, but worried about the long term effects on its health, please know that these dogs can live normal healthy lives following treatment. We suggest that you consult your own vet to confirm this. Then don't be afraid to lose your heart to one of these dogs.
Ringo came to us on 07/28/09 and is currently in one of our wonderful foster homes for evaluation, heartworm treatment, and lots of love. All of our dogs stay in their foster homes for a minimum two week evaluation period, then remain there until their forever home finds them.

We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Sarasota, and beyond if needed. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs but live outside our usual area of operations, please state that in your initial contact with us. This will allow us to ascertain whether we have volunteers in your area who would be able to assist in processing your application. We very much want to help everyone who is eager to adopt a rescue dog and we do have some amazing volunteers in areas well outside Southwest Florida who are willing to do home visits, but there are some locations that we are simply unable to cover.
