Here is our one and half year old Miss Molly. She was found as a stray and taken in by a very compassionate person but could not keep her and turned her over to rescue.
Her foster home is working on housebreaking and basic commands like sit and stay. She walks fairly well on a leash until she spots something of interest to her. Molly is a very insecure, velcro little girl so a lot of patience and time will be needed to get her more trusting.
She loves other dogs and cats. Her foster home has four other Goldens and a kitty to keep her company. Molly will be a great family dog. She really needs to have someone home with her a portion of the day and not be alone for long periods of time.
Molly is very light heartworm positive and will need to be on medication for three months and then be retested. Hopefully she will not have to go through the series of regular heartworm treatments - when the infection is light enough, vets often elect a less drastic treatment that generally produces positive results, this way we avoid the dangerous and painful usual treatment.
If you are interested in adopting a dog that has been treated for heartworm disease, but worried about the long term effects on its health, please know that these dogs can live normal healthy lives following treatment. We suggest that you consult your own vet to confirm this. Then don't be afraid to lose your heart to one of these dogs. Molly came to us on 03/16/10 and is currently in one of our wonderful foster homes for evaluation and lots of love. All of our dogs stay in their foster homes for a minimum two week evaluation period, then remain there until their forever home finds them.

We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Sarasota, and sometimes slightly beyond if needed. Because of Molly's history we are only accepting applications for her from within our usual area of operations. Unfortunately, there are some locations that we are simply unable to cover. Much as we would like to, we are unable to work with families on the East coast of Florida as we do not have sufficient representation in that area to perform home visits prior to the adoption, or follow-up visits afterward.
