George is an 86 pound, five year old neutered boy. He was surrendered to GRRSWF by his former owner who was unable to keep him. George is mostly Golden Retriever, we think there is a little Lab in the mix too, but not much. George was a farm dog. Very strong, muscular and alpha with the other dogs he lived with. He is also a sweetheart. Very warm and friendly. Seems to love people. He came to our volunteer immediately and couldn't have been nicer. He is also a leaner. Really burrows into you. He is great with kids. George has never been around cats so we will test him after hes had a chance to settle into his Foster Home, but loves to chase squirrels and other small things, so cats are probably on that list too. George walks very nicely on the leash and loves car rides. George came to us on 12/02/09 and is currently in one of our wonderful foster homes for evaluation and lots of love. All of our dogs stay in their foster homes for a minimum two week evaluation period, then remain there until their forever home finds them. If you are interested in learning more about George, please contact us at applications@grrswf.org for additional information and an adoption application. We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Sarasota, and sometimes slightly beyond if needed. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs but live outside our usual area of operations, please us know as soon as possible; this will allow us to ascertain whether we have volunteers in your area who would be able to assist in processing your application, and may save you from completing an application that we might be unable to process. Unfortunately, there are some locations that we are simply unable to cover. Much as we would like to, we are unable to work with families on the East coast of Florida as we do not have sufficient representation in that area to perform home visits prior to the adoption, or follow-up visits afterward.
