Dolce (which means Sweet in Italian) is indeed a sweetheart. She is a two year old, spayed female who loves everyone. She is current on her vaccines, does not have heartworm, and has been declared healthy by our local network vet.
Dolce’s former owners were unable to keep her due to very long work hours and they knew it wasn’t fair for such a friendly, loving little girl to be alone most of the time; they loved her enough to want to make sure that she finds a home where her new family will have plenty of time and energy for her.
She gets along with dogs, cats, and kids – what more could you ask for! Her foster family has three cats who have nothing to fear from Dolce – sweet and gentle.
Her foster Mom tells us: “Dolce is a gem! She is so good and sweet! Saturday I took her to the dog park and she loved it but always kept an eye on me not letting me out of her sight. Then I took her to the park by Sarasota Sailing Squadron and took her swimming. She had never been before. It was apparent because she was at first scared of the little waves but she followed me in and was so excited that she could swim! Then we came home and I gave her a good bath and we had friends over for a cookout. She is absolutely wonderful. Yesterday we went to the dog park again she is so funny because she just roams around a little but doesn't want to lose sight of me. Then we took a long walk by the waterfront. She thinks she has died and gone to heaven! She obviously had very good training because she does know how to sit, lay, come, and stay and shake. She was thrilled that I let her sleep in my bed. Today I will bring her to work with me - there is a Husky there and four cats. She is very good with all animals and loves children.”
Dolce came to us on 08/22/09 and is currently in one of our wonderful foster homes for evaluation and lots of love. All of our dogs stay in their foster homes for a minimum two week evaluation period, then remain there until their forever home finds them.

We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Sarasota, and beyond if needed. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs but live outside our usual area of operations, please state that in your initial contact with us. This will allow us to ascertain whether we have volunteers in your area who would be able to assist in processing your application. We very much want to help everyone who is eager to adopt a rescue dog and we do have some amazing volunteers in areas well outside Southwest Florida who are willing to do home visits, but there are some locations that we are simply unable to cover.
