About Cooper

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Tan
  • Housetrained: Yes
Cooper is our newest 14 month old light blonde golden. His foster home reports the following: “He is a very loving, very energetic boy that needs to learn manners. He has the basics, but needs the consistency to go with it. We are working on that with him. He responds VERY well to the young man in the house who is 17yrs. old. He listens to him very well and has excellent eye contact with him.
“He is a jumper and is quickly learning that is not an acceptable behavior. He is great with all the other dogs, cat and other animals in the house (we have birds to ferrets, chinchilla to iguana). He knows sign language for commands such as sit, stay, down.
“He is very good in his crate, however he does a very funny thing, he does not like a water bowl or any bowls in his crate with him! He will immediately flip the bowl over with his nose if you put one in there with him. He is fine with them out of the crate and will eat and drink from them as long as they are not in his crate.
“He is a very typical pup when it comes to playtime, he loves to fetch and play ball. Again, he has VERY high energy and needs to be able to release it with lots of activity.”
Cooper came to us on 10/13/09 and is currently in one of our wonderful foster homes for evaluation and lots of love. All of our dogs stay in their foster homes for a minimum two week evaluation period, then remain there until their forever home finds them.
If you are interested in learning more about Cooper, please contact us at applications@grrswf.org for additional information and an adoption application.
We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Sarasota, and sometimes slightly beyond if needed. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs but live outside our usual area of operations, please state that in your initial contact with us. This will allow us to ascertain whether we have volunteers in your area who would be able to assist in processing your application; unfortunately, there are some locations that we are simply unable to cover. Much as we would like to, we are unable to work with families on the East coast of Florida as we do not have sufficient representation in that area to perform home visits prior to the adoption, or follow-up visits afterward.
