Sam is a 3-year-old Golden Retriever mix. Sam has to have a 6 Foot privacy fence. He can sometimes be apprehensive of strangers, but is easily won over with the right approach. He’s super affectionate, loves attention, is playful, and will lay at your feet anytime you need him to chill out with you. Sam’s ideal home would be with one or several calm, confident adults. Sam likes to play fetch and play in a fenced yard. He can be a challenge to walk when he sees other dogs or critters. Sam has shared a home with a dog and done ok but it takes slow introductions. Sam is vocal and cannot be adopted to a family living in an apartment or condo with close neighbors. Sam has worked with a few trainers and his new family would need to continue to his training. If you are an approved adopter and are interested in Sam, please contact Jeanine or Lynette. If you are not yet approved but live in SW or Central Florida, please visit www.grrswf.org and fill out an application.
If you are interested in learning more about a GRRSWF dog, please contact us at applications@grrswf.org, or you can read about our adoption process in detail and download an application from our website at http://www.grrswf.org/index-2.html PLEASE NOTE: We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Ocala. If you live OUTSIDE of our service area and are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please note that we will only consider an application for senior dogs (over the age of 8) or dogs with special needs (usually medication). BEFORE submitting your application, send an email to info@GRRSWF.org to request an exception to our service area. If that approval is given, you will be asked to complete an application, clearly stating on it that you are interested in a special needs or senior dog. However, please be aware that, unfortunately, there are some locations we simply cannot cover because we do not have sufficient representation in those areas to perform the required home visits prior to the adoption, or follow-up visits afterward. If that is the case, we will be happy to refer you to a local rescue or shelter.
