Abigail is 7 and weighs 74lbs. She is a retired breeding dog and she is good with cats, dogs and children. We were told she can dig under fences. Because she has spent most of her life with dogs, we want to find her a home with another dog friend. She is a happy and cheerful girl!!

Please understand we do have a wait list of approved homes, especially for dogs under 6 years old. So the dog you see may not be available. We encourage families serious about adopting a golden, to submit an application and go through the approval process to get on the wait list. We call families waiting first as new dogs come into rescue.

All GRRSWF dogs have undergone a full examination by a veterinarian, and any health concerns have been addressed. If you are interested in learning more about a GRRSWF dog  please contact us at applications@grrswf.org, or you can read about our adoption process in detail and download an application from our website at http://www.grrswf.org/index-2.html

PLEASE NOTE: We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Ocala. If you live OUTSIDE of our service area and are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please note that we will only consider an application for senior dogs (over the age of 8) or dogs with special needs (usually medication).  BEFORE submitting your application, send an email to info@GRRSWF.org to request an exception to our service area. If that approval is given, you will be asked to complete an application, clearly stating on it that you are interested in a special needs or senior dog.  However, please be aware that, unfortunately, there are some locations we simply cannot cover because we do not have sufficient representation in those areas to perform the required home visits prior to the adoption, or follow-up visits afterward. If that is the case, we will be happy to refer you to a local rescue or shelter.
